The Force continued on from last season where they lost seven matches with a margin of less than six points by losing to the Brumbies by two points.

The Force led the Brumbies for parts of the match and were never really out of the running but also never really got going.

"I thought they played really good field position, pinned us in our half and there were a few lapses in defense and we gave them a couple of tries." said Pocock.

When asked about the Force losing yet another match by a margin of less than seven again Pocock said,"Not the result we were after."

Former Waratah Ben Mowen was understandably pleased to win his first match as captain of the Brumbies.

"There were some untidy things there and there were some really good things but underpinning that's a great mental attitude and that's what we want," Mowen said.

"Obviously, there were some things there that were a bit scratchy but there some other really good things: some really classy touches by Jesse Mogg and Robbie Coleman. "

"Those are things we build on and the other things we were short on we address."

Western Force Coach Richard Graham said while the final result was disappointing, there were a lot of positives to take from an exchange in which the game plan was executed well for 70 minutes.

"I don't think you're ever happy when you lose, that's not the nature of the game is it," Graham said.

"For a large part of that contest we played the way that we wanted to player and controlled the game reasonably well."

"There was just that 10 minute period following half time where our intensity dropped and they scored two tries which was clearly the difference."
